ELS invites members of local authorities to an event on the subject of Judicial Review – An Update’ which will take place at County Hall in Chelmsford on 21st May, 2018 at 1.30pm
We will be joined by Andrew Sharland QC from 11 KBW and will be providing an opportunity to discuss some of the significant issues surrounding judicial review that will be raised in more detail.
Aim of the seminar
The aim of the seminar is to furnish colleagues and partners with the key facts and issues to take back to their organisations to enable consideration of the following in substantive law:
- Right to a fair hearing.
- Systemic challenges
- The public sector equality duty
- The duty to give reasons
- Challenges to policies
In addition the seminar will provide a procedural update addressing the Purdah Convention, delay and standing.
The session will incorporate time for Q&A and interactive discussion.
Andrew has broad public law practice with a particular emphasis on human rights, education, health and community law, local government, planning and environmental law, professional discipline and regulatory law. He regularly acts in information law, public procurement and employment matters.
Prior to taking silk, Andrew was a long standing member of the Attorney General’s A Panel of counsel representing government bodies on some of the most important and difficult cases.
Andrew is the co-author of the leading practitioner textbook Judicial Review: Principles and Procedures (OUP 2013)
