The Parental Bereavement (Leave and Pay) Act 2018 has received Royal Assent. The aim of the Act is to give employed parents the statutory right to two weeks’ paid leave on the death of a child under 18, or suffer a stillbirth from 24 weeks of pregnancy.
The government is yet to publish regulations on how the Act will work in practice. It is anticipated the regulations will be introduced in 2020.
